Have you ever wanted to spend time in the wonderfully seedy bar in which Kyle Katarn starts off his adventures in the 1997 game Dark Forces II: Jedi Knight, but with all of the bells and whistles of a new-ish video game?
No? Just me? Alright. Regardless, now you can!
My name's Acke! As an awkward teenager, I started Kylekatarn.com - "The Kyle Katarn Fan Site" - and I have since grown up to work on games professionally. Kyle Katarn's adventures, and Dark Forces II in particular still holds a very special place in my heart and it is without a doubt one of my favourite video games. On and off in my spare time, I have made this thing in hopes of capturing what Rimmer's Rest (the bar in which you start off in Dark Forces II) could have looked like, were it created in a modern video game.
If you download and play it, please do not expect too much. It's not really optimized, there are no enemies, little to no gameplay and just two rooms to explore, but there are a couple of secrets! I had a lot of fun making it and I hope you have fun checking it out.
This was all made with Unreal Engine, Blender, Photoshop and a handful of really cool assets that some really talented artists made - links below.
